ABOUT Xavier Marquis is a filmmaker and visual author, trained in graphic design and animation. For several years now, he has been developing documentary projects that combine live action and graphic storytelling, with a curious and offbeat take on the world. His first animated short, ‘Somebody Exceptional’, was widely shown at festivals. In his films, he explores the singular details of everyday life and the way in which images can render abstract subjects sensitive. His documentary Le temps presse, shown in France and abroad, examines our relationship with time through a blend of humour, interviews and visual devices. His latest film, Notre avenir est-il sur l'eau (Is our future on the water?), looks at floating cities and the concrete responses that architects and scientists are proposing to the rising oceans. Xavier works at Google Arts & Culture, where he designs animations, reels and visual universes exploring the arts, knowledge and new technologies. |
