BIO
Xavier Marquis is a filmmaker and visual author with a background in graphic design and animation. After creating visual identities for ARTE and working in London for Sky, BBC, and Channel 4, he expanded into documentary filmmaking.
His film Le Temps Presse (Zadig Productions) — a witty exploration of our relationship to time — was selected at Sheffield Doc/Fest, DOK Leipzig, and Al Jazeera International Documentary Festival. His ARTE documentary Is Our Future on Water?, filmed across ten countries, explores floating cities as a response to climate change. Broadcast in prime time in Germany, it has since been selected at numerous international festivals worldwide.
Xavier has also directed over fifty commissioned animated films for institutions such as La Villette and France Télévisions. Since 2022, he has been part of Google Arts & Culture, producing films and illustrations on art and science.
